Export an Android call log to Excel

For phone bills, business expenses or records, a spreadsheet of calls – number, date, duration, incoming/outgoing – is often needed. Android doesn't export this itself.

Make the backup

In SMS Backup & Restore, back up Call logs. Copy the calls-….xml file to your computer.

Convert to CSV

Open the calls XML in Threadlode and export CSV: one row per call with the number, contact name (when stored), date and time, duration and type (incoming, outgoing, missed, rejected…). Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.

Useful summaries

  • Pivot by number to see who you call most and the total minutes.
  • Filter by date for one billing period.
  • Duration is in seconds: divide by 60 for minutes.

Read your backup now. Threadlode opens Android SMS Backup & Restore XML files, unencrypted iPhone backups (sms.db) and the Mac Messages folder (chat.db) in your browser, with photos and search, and exports PDF, Excel, CSV or an HTML archive. Nothing is uploaded. Reading and search are free; a $15 one-time license removes the export limit.
